Bishop Abioye: Lessons Learned in Winners Have Secured My Destiny

Bishop David Abioye officially retired from the Living Faith Church on Friday, October 18, 2024, during a valedictory service attended by church leaders from across Nigeria. Held at Goshen City in Abuja, the event celebrated Abioye’s exceptional leadership and service. He expressed deep gratitude to his spiritual mentor, Bishop David Oyedepo, acknowledging the profound influence Oyedepo had on his spiritual and personal growth.

In his speech, Abioye reflected on the invaluable lessons he and his wife had gained under Oyedepo’s mentorship, which he credited with giving them “security of destiny.” He emphasized the grace that had kept him on the “path of exploits” throughout his ministry, which he viewed as a fulfillment of divine purpose, not driven by personal ambition. Abioye also shared how his humble upbringing shaped his devotion to God and the church.

At 63, Abioye recognized Oyedepo’s lasting impact on his life, describing their relationship as transformative. He recalled their first meeting in January 1980, when he was 19 years old, as divinely ordained and central to his life’s direction. He noted that greatness comes through following, and after over 45 years of closely following Oyedepo, he had become a “full-fledged duplicate of grace.”

In a heartfelt tribute, Pastor Paul Enenche commended Abioye’s life, highlighting his focus on making a difference, not just making a living. Enenche praised him for a life marked by meaning, influence, and purpose.

As he steps into retirement, Abioye reassured the congregation that his bond with Bishop Oyedepo would remain strong. He expressed immense gratitude for Oyedepo’s mentorship, which had profoundly shaped his journey in ministry.

Pastor Faith Oyedepo also encouraged Abioye, offering words of hope and affirming that even greater days lie ahead. Bishop Oyedepo then led a powerful prayer for Abioye and his wife, extending blessings to the entire congregation in attendance.
