Chandler Moore and Naomi Raine announce departure from Maverick City Music
Grammy-winning artists Chandler Moore and Naomi Raine have officially announced their departures from the contemporary Christian collective Maverick City Music. The two artists shared heartfelt statements on social media, confirming their decisions to part ways with the group.
Their exits follow closely after Moore filed a lawsuit against Norman Gyamfi, co-founder of Maverick City Music and TRIBL Records, who also managed Moore from 2020 to 2023. In the suit, Moore accuses Gyamfi of abusing his managerial role for personal gain, misappropriating intellectual property, and withholding millions in royalties. The filing further alleges that Gyamfi forged Moore’s signature on key business and legal documents.
The legal action also lists Insignia Holding Co., TRIBL Records, and Maverick City Music as co-defendants. This development comes amid mounting criticism of Gyamfi, following his controversial remarks on The Isaac Carree Show, where he described gospel music as “stale” and “not evolving.”
As founding members since the group’s inception in 2018, Moore and Raine have played pivotal roles in shaping Maverick City Music’s distinctive sound and global influence. The collective, which has won five Grammy Awards, is celebrated for its powerful worship anthems including “Promises” and “Jireh.”
Their departure marks the end of an era, but both artists leave behind a profound legacy that continues to inspire and redefine modern worship music.
