Christian Charity Extends Christ’s Love to Displaced Muslims in Lebanon

As the conflict in the Middle East intensifies, the Christian charity Youth for Christ Lebanon (YFCL) has been providing essential support to Muslim communities affected by Israeli airstrikes.

On Wednesday, October 2nd, Israel expanded its ground offensive in Lebanon, following Iran’s launch of over 200 ballistic missiles the previous night. In response, 24 villages in southern Lebanon were ordered to evacuate.

The recent airstrikes have displaced more than a million people, around a fifth of Lebanon’s population, resulting in hundreds of deaths and the destruction of critical infrastructure, including hospitals and schools. Many of those fleeing from southern regions have sought refuge in Beirut, where resources are already severely strained.

Amidst this turmoil, YFCL has stepped in to provide practical aid to displaced families, demonstrating the love of Jesus through their actions.

“People are terrified,” said Maher El Hajj, YFCL’s National Director, in an interview with us. “They’re struggling to sleep, dealing with high anxiety and depression. The bombing continues—when will it stop?”

El Hajj explained how the charity is focusing its efforts on Muslim-majority areas heavily affected by the bombings, offering much-needed support. “They need everything—from trauma care to basic supplies like food, water, and medicine.”

He emphasized that YFCL’s mission is to demonstrate the love of Christ in tangible ways to the Muslim community, so they may experience His unconditional love.

The charity is calling on the global Christian community to pray for funding, strength, and endurance for local churches, encouraging them to be a beacon of hope amid the destruction.

“We pray that through us, people will see Christ and be open to the Gospel message,” El Hajj said.
