The fire which occurred on the 6th January destroyed several properties and thousands of cedis.

Reports say that, while all seventeen stores were completely burnt, the only thing which escaped the raging fire was a Bible.

A lot of people have been put in a state of shock after the Bible was retrieved from the debris.

Among the stores destroyed were provision shops, a book shop, a pharmacy and others made of freight containers.

Meanwhile, fire fighters at Bekwai and Fomena aided to put out the raging fire before it cause further damages.

The Bekwai Municipal Fire Commander, DO2 Amos Abban, said no lives were lost, adding that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the cause of the fire
