Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey reveals wife’s five miscarriages, ectopic pregnancy
Gospel minister Nathaniel Bassey has shared a deeply personal testimony, revealing that his wife, Sarah Bassey, experienced five miscarriages — including an ectopic pregnancy — during the period he was leading the Hallelujah Challenge.
The October 2025 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, which marks its eighth anniversary, runs from October 7 to 31, with nightly sessions beginning at 11:59 p.m. The global online event features worship, praise, prayer, and fasting, drawing thousands of believers worldwide.
Speaking during Friday’s early-morning session, Bassey reflected on how he continued to lead worship despite enduring personal grief. “As ministers, we often hear people say, ‘Pastor, you don’t understand…’ My wife will have to forgive me, but there were times we had a miscarriage, and no one knew. I would still come online to praise and dance,” he shared.
He went on to recall a particularly painful season: “A few years ago, she was in the hospital with an ectopic pregnancy. I would leave to lead worship online, then return to her bedside. The nurses attending to her would say, ‘It was powerful tonight.’ Not once, not twice, but five times.”
Bassey, who has been married to Sarah since 2013, encouraged believers to hold on to their faith in difficult times. “So when people ask, ‘Where is God?’ I say, I understand. God is faithful. One of the words He gave us was, ‘Don’t give up on God,’” he said, emphasizing that God’s promises never fail — even in moments of deep pain.
