IBB: Prayers By Christian, Muslim Faithful Sustaining Nigeria
Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has attributed Nigeria’s sustenance to the prayers of both Christians and Muslims across the country.
He urged the faithful to intensify their supplications to God for the unity and progress of the nation. Babangida made this remark at his uphill residence in Minna while receiving the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State chapter, Most Reverend Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, and members of his executive, who visited to celebrate his birthday.
“I deeply appreciate CAN for the prayers. I must say that the prayers of both faiths—Christians and Muslims—have been very effective, and they are what continue to hold this country together,” Babangida stated. He further encouraged clerics and their followers to sustain the effort for the collective good of Nigeria.
The former leader also called for stronger ties between Christians and Muslims, stressing that unity and mutual respect are vital for the country’s development and survival. According to him, “The unity and progress of Nigeria rest in the hands of Christians and Muslims.”
Earlier, Bishop Yohanna, who also serves as the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, expressed gratitude to God for Babangida’s life, noting that it has been a blessing to many and continues to inspire admiration. Represented by the State Vice Chairman, Reverend Joshua Markus, he commended Babangida’s remarkable vision and contributions to different sectors of the nation and prayed for his continued good health and fulfillment.
The visit was rounded off with special prayers from the Christian community for Babangida, asking God to grant him more years of blessings and impactful service to Nigeria.
