“It’s Not Biblical For Man To Take Care Of A Woman” – Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo

Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, founder of David’s Christian Centre, has cautioned women against depending on men for financial support, emphasizing that such expectations are rooted in culture rather than Scripture.

According to him, “It’s not biblical for a man to take care of a woman. That idea is cultural, not scriptural. The Bible clearly says that anyone who does not work should not eat.”

His remarks, which have stirred widespread reactions online, have drawn mixed opinions. While some applaud his interpretation as a challenge to long-held cultural stereotypes, others strongly disagree, insisting that the Bible indeed positions men as providers within their households.

Pastor Okonkwo further criticized the mindset of women who measure their worth by what men can give them, warning that such dependency often leads to mistreatment. “The way some of you are being treated is a result of how you have rated yourselves. If he doesn’t buy me popcorn, I won’t come—that mentality is damaging,” he said.
