The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has called on Nigerians to be vigilant and take preventive measures against fire outbreaks across the country.
Speaking during the RCCG February Thanksgiving Service at the Throne of Grace Parish in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the importance of caution and prayer in the face of potential disasters, including storms and floods.
“I need to share something very urgent,” he stated. “At the start of this year, one of the prophecies was to pray against fire outbreaks, storms, and floods. We’ve only completed one month, yet we’ve already witnessed several fire incidents globally. Nigeria is part of the world, so we must be prayerful.”
He specifically cautioned farmers against the dangers of bush burning while preparing their land for cultivation, warning that carelessness could lead to devastating consequences.
“Be extremely careful with any form of open fire,” he advised. “And to farmers, please refrain from burning bushes while clearing your farms. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. May the Almighty God answer our prayers and grant our requests.”
Delivering a sermon titled The Covenant-Keeping God, Pastor Adeboye reminded the congregation that obedience to God’s covenant guarantees His faithfulness and blessings.
“If you obey and keep God’s covenant, He will make you His special treasure,” he declared, referencing biblical figures who experienced divine favor through their obedience.
He also reflected on the life of the late RCCG founder as a testament to God’s faithfulness.
“God called the founder of this church, a man who had no formal education beyond primary school. Yet, He promised that if the founder obeyed certain divine instructions, He would establish a church through him that would spread across the world. The founder remained obedient, and today, RCCG is present in virtually every part of the world,” Pastor Adeboye recounted.
Addressing claims that the church’s growth was linked to his academic background, he dismissed such notions.
“Some say it’s because of Pastor Adeboye, the academician. But there are RCCG parishes in countries I have never visited, including places where church buildings are prohibited. In one Muslim country, a prominent man invited our missionaries to start a church in his own yard, despite his wife’s objections. This isn’t about me—it’s the result of God’s covenant.”
Encouraging the congregation to cherish their relationship with God and remain steadfast in keeping His covenant, Pastor Adeboye assured them that God remains faithful to those who trust in Him.
“There are people who fast and pray more than us, yet God has shown us extraordinary love. If you keep God’s covenant, He will make you His special treasure,” he concluded.
