Police Exonerate Pastor Paul Adefarasin Over Viral Firearm Claim
The Nigeria Police Force has cleared Pastor Paul Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, of allegations stemming from a viral video that appeared to show him holding a firearm.
The video, which circulated widely on social media last week, sparked public debate, with some viewers claiming the pastor brandished a gun during a church program. Pastor Adefarasin, however, denied the accusation, clarifying that the item in question was not a firearm and that he never pointed it at anyone.
In an official statement released on Wednesday in Lagos, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that an investigation had been carried out. The clergyman was interrogated and provided a cautionary statement.
According to the police, findings revealed that the object seen in the footage was a stun gun—a non-lethal device—rather than a firearm. Based on this conclusion, the authorities determined there was no basis to pursue the matter further.
“The case is hereby discontinued,” the statement declared.
The clarification has helped ease public concern, allowing attention to shift back to Pastor Adefarasin’s ministry and humanitarian initiatives.
