Roberto Firmino: The Footballer Who Became A Pastor

Brazilian football star Roberto Firmino, well-known for his successful years at Liverpool and now playing for Al-Ahli, has taken an inspiring step off the pitch. In June 2024, he was officially ordained as a pastor at Manah Church, an evangelical congregation he co-founded three years ago in his hometown of Maceió, Brazil.

Firmino and his wife, Larissa Pereira, described the ordination as “memorable and unforgettable.” On Instagram, they shared how their encounter with Christ ignited a strong desire to spread His love and dedicate their lives to serving others.

His faith journey began in 2020, when he was baptized by former teammate Alisson Becker. Since then, Firmino has openly expressed his Christian faith, frequently posting uplifting reflections and spiritual messages for his fans on social media.

Though still active in football, Firmino’s ordination marks a profound new chapter in his life. It reflects his deep commitment to God and demonstrates how spiritual growth can harmonize with a professional career.

Supporters worldwide have praised his decision, seeing it as proof that even the most demanding careers can create space for faith, service, and purpose.
