The Senior Pastor of The Second Coming of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa, on Sunday urged U.S. President Donald Trump to reconsider his immigration policy.
Pastor Giwa stated that God is displeased with Trump’s decision to deport illegal migrants back to their home countries.
Following his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, Trump signed an executive order focused on deporting undocumented immigrants. The directive aims to shut down the U.S. southern border to immigration while intensifying deportation efforts.
According to the White House, the executive order “suspends the physical entry of aliens engaged in an invasion of the United States through the southern border.” It further instructs the Departments of Homeland Security, Justice, and State to “take all necessary action to immediately repel, repatriate, and remove illegal aliens across the southern border of the United States.”
Speaking to his congregation in Akure, Ondo State, Pastor Giwa addressed President Trump, saying:
“This is my message to the U.S. President—please reconsider your decision to deport illegal immigrants. I warned you even before you assumed office.
“I have always supported you, and I am glad that you are a child of God. In Genesis 1, after creating man, God commanded us to have dominion over the earth, the sea, and animals.
“One of Christ’s greatest teachings is love—he instructed us to love one another. Mr. President, where is the love?
“If you send innocent people who have worked tirelessly to build the U.S. back to their countries, where is the love in that decision?
“The Lord does not support your stance on immigration, but He stands with you in your efforts to abolish the oppressive policies of your predecessors, particularly concerning issues like gay and transgender rights. The Lord is pleased with the steps you have taken in that regard.
“Please reconsider your decision and take my advice to heart. May God bless America, and may God bless Nigeria.”
