WDPCN urges Christian women to pray for Nigeria
The World Day of Prayer Committee of Nigeria (WDPCN) has called on Christian women across the country to fervently pray for Nigeria, seeking divine intervention in the nation’s crises. Speaking at the inaugural WDPCN convention in Lagos, themed “Ambassadors of Christ in the Movement of World Prayer in Communities,” pioneer national chairperson Florence Uche emphasized the power of prayer in transforming difficult situations.
Uche stated, “If people pray, God listens and answers. When women pray, remarkable things happen. Only through prayer can we overcome and prevail over the enemy’s schemes in this country.”
She also urged mothers to remain focused, advising women to lead righteous lives and set good examples for their children. Uche stressed the importance of peace within the home, noting that when families are peaceful, society will follow suit. She encouraged women to pay attention to the needs of their husbands and children, warning that neglect could drive them to seek attention elsewhere, often with negative consequences.
The WDPCN convention, part of the 2024 World Day of Prayer activities, was described by Uche as a platform for Christian women to unite in prayer and strengthen their faith. She urged members, who she referred to as Christ’s ambassadors, to seek reconciliation with God and one another in preparation for eternal life.
Gloria Iwuamadi, the group’s legal adviser, described the two-day event as impactful, noting that it brought together Christian women from various denominations to commemorate the World Day of Prayer.
