Why I won’t monetise YouTube page for Hallelujah Challenge – Nathaniel Bassey

Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has once again affirmed his decision not to monetise the official YouTube channel for the Hallelujah Challenge, the global online prayer movement he launched in 2017.

During a recent live session, Bassey cautioned participants against fraudulent YouTube channels that illegally replicate the official stream from NathanielBasseymain—the only verified page—in order to divert viewers and profit through ads.

“There are people who join the Hallelujah Challenge through fake pages on YouTube,” he said. “Let me explain why. Because I’ve chosen not to monetise the Hallelujah Challenge, some criminals and scammers clone our feed and broadcast it just to make money.”

Held twice each year, the Hallelujah Challenge features renowned gospel artists and ministers in nights of worship and prayer that attract audiences from around the world.

Bassey also addressed the criticism he receives from both sides—accused of seeking profit if he monetises and of pride if he doesn’t.

“They’ve dragged me enough,” he said. “When you monetise, people say you’re doing ministry for money; when you don’t, they say you’re proud. But we won’t monetise it—I’m not led to. God will provide for us in other ways.”

He urged viewers to confirm they are watching via the verified NathanielBasseymain channel and to avoid unofficial links, emphasising that the Hallelujah Challenge remains a free, purely spiritual offering—not a commercial venture.

“So, if you’re watching right now and you’re not on NathanielBasseymain, that’s a fake page. Any other channel is a scam trying to merchandise the grace of God,” he warned.

Organisers also encouraged participants to report suspicious channels and engage only through the official handle.
