Pastor Chris Okafor Publicly Apologises To Nollywood Actress Doris Ogala, Kneels Before Church Over Marriage Dispute
Pastor Chris Okafor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, popularly known as Grace Nation Liberation City, has publicly apologised to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala after days of controversy that led to her arrest and subsequent release by the Nigeria Police.
The apology was delivered during a livestream shared by DavePlayBlogger on Sunday and viewed by SaharaReporters on X. In his remarks, Okafor acknowledged that mistakes had been made, while also disputing several allegations brought against him.
“We are not joining issues. Mistakes have been made in the past, and I tender my apology to everybody,” the cleric said.
Despite apologising, Okafor insisted that the claims against him were untrue. “Everything that was said is not true. Everything—take note—everything that was said was never true. There are so many lies in most of the things that were said,” he stated.
Nevertheless, he directly addressed Ogala and others he said he may have offended. “But be that as it may, I am sorry to everyone I have offended. To Doris Ogala, I also say sorry,” he said, adding that he was willing to make amends.
“And I apologise to everyone I have offended. Once again, I repeat this: I am ready to make restitution to anyone,” Okafor said.
He described the apology as both personal and public, expressing remorse openly. “Anybody—any lady, anywhere, or man—that I have offended, I am sorry. Forgive me. I am not perfect; I have never been perfect. I am kneeling before everyone and before the church,” he added.
The apology follows Ogala’s widely reported arrest and release. The actress was rearrested in Abuja shortly after being granted bail and later flown to Lagos by officers of the Zone 2 Command.
Sources told SaharaReporters that tensions escalated when Ogala’s lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, attempted to record police actions, allegedly resulting in his assault and the seizure of his phones.
After the intervention of a Take It Back Movement coordinator, Jamiu Towolawi, popularly known as Jharmo, Ogala was released in Lagos last Monday.
SaharaReporters further gathered that Okafor later met with the actress at the Zone 2 Command in Onikan, Lagos, where he sought peace and reconciliation. According to a source, the pastor “fell on his knees and begged” Ogala during a closed-door meeting that lasted nearly an hour. She was subsequently released on “health grounds,” with Towolawi acting as her surety.
The conflict reportedly began after Ogala accused Okafor of reneging on an alleged promise to marry her. Through her lawyers, Synergy Law Partners, she demanded N1 billion in damages, citing emotional distress, reputational damage and financial loss.
Ogala alleged that the relationship, said to have started in 2017, involved repeated assurances of marriage, introductions to family members and significant financial dealings, including an alleged N45 million transfer.
